They released an extended clip of "Astro Boy" today! I worked a lot on this sequence so it's fun to see it out there.
Also... when we edit movies we use "scratch" dialog. Which means we will get a crew member to record a line of dialog in or office to use as a place holder until we get the "real actor". Sometimes it actually stays as the scratch actor which happened in Bolt with the hamster. He was a storyboard artist on the film.
I tend to hate doing scratch because it's really hard to work with your own voice in the edit (and I'm not very good at it) but sometimes I'm convinced, or there's no one else around. In Asto Boy I did a few lines but one actually stayed!!! They did replace it with an "actor" but didn't like it as much as mine so it's in the movie!!! The clip they released today has my line! At about 1:19 there is a girl on a bench getting proposed to. I'm her gasp but then in the next part she is dangling (you'll see) and yells "i'm getting married!". That's me =) hee hee hee. goofy, but fun!

Astro mania

It's just over a month until the film I was working on for the last two years is out in theatres!! "Astro Boy" will be released on October 23rd here in the States. So right now is when al the hoopla is beginning. There are ads on busses & posters & billboards. In Japan it comes out on the 10th so it's everywhere! In just a bit McDonalds will be putting out their Astro Happy Meals =)

Very fun =) Here's some of the happenings:
The US poster. I'm not sure why every one is smiling, especially since they don't in the film... =/

The Japanese poster. WAY cooler!!!

Here's a picture someone took in Tokyo of the subway ad. (In Japan it is called "Atom" because that was Astro's original name in the Japanese manga).

Here is a link to the official ASTRO BOY MOVIE site. =)

I just dropped off DAK at the Virgin termainal @ LAX and it is so nice & well maintained & calm. Then I came over to the International Terminal to pick up Melis & it is GROSS! Eww. What a shambles. Not a good way to welcome visitors to our city. I think LAX has been voted on the bottom of the list for airport terminals & now I know why. Ugh. I'll take Burbank any day.

times are a changing

Why was this not around when we lived there?

"New York State's official traffic and travel info source" now has twitter feeds for NY area regions and for specific subway lines! Wow, this soooooo would have come in handy in the "good ole days. I love it!!

funny lady

I've discovered a blogger, The Sassy Curmudgeon, who, I think, is a really funny writer. She wrote one post that is so me about her Wii. Some of it goes:

So, of course, when the Wii Fit came out, I knew that it would be mine. My husband and I like our Wii, but wii (ha!) don't use it that often because it involves unplugging the DVD player, and yes, wii are that lazy. But Wii Fit seemed like the perfect momentary obsession workout regimen for someone with absolutely no willpower or motivation who needs to be distracted in order to exercise...

Unfortunately after only a few uses I was forced by vanity to shove my balance board under the couch and cower in fear. For instance, no one told me that if one does not use it every single day (and really, who has that kind of time, let alone willpower?), the Wii chides you as soon as you start. "Oh, too busy to work out yesterday, huh?" it mocks in a high-pitched, childlike voice not unlike HAL after a few hits of helium. I don't know about you, but standing in front of my TV wearing a sports bra is not the best time for me to be mocked. It sends me into the kitchen for some ice cream and/or vodka.

See, I'm even too lazy to write a dang blog post about it myself! I'm happy to sit on the couch & quote her =)

She has a fabu post about Facebook that made me laugh so hard I had tears. It goes a little something like this:

I also think that to begin posting Facebook-related statuses is a slippery slope. Take, for example, these honest updates that my better judgment has prevented me from submitting:

Una wants to friend [ex-boyfrend's name redacted]'s hot new girlfriend but suspects that this could be construed as creepy and/or pathetic.

Una would really like [name redacted] to stop commenting on every fucking thing I post.

Una is sooooo glad to know that [name redacted] decided to take two spin classes this morning and feels amazing. I drank two bottles of Shiraz last night and scarfed an egg and cheese sandwich at my desk when I rolled in an hour late. Fuck you.

Una doesn't care what NY landmark or great philosopher or Sex and the City character you are.

Una would appreciate NOT being tagged in unflattering photos from freshman year of college, but doesn't want to untag herself because thats seems vain.

She's got some pretty funny recaps of this season's Project Runway episodes as well.
Give her a read at The Sassy Curmudgeon

kids toys gone wrong

There's a couple web sited that I check out once in a while and this week I saw these two kids toys on there. Just frightening really. The biggest question isn't "who would buy these toys for their kids" but "who approved these at the meeting before they even went into production"!?!?!?!

This one was found on

And this one at

I thought these were kinda fun! And, kinda sad at the same time =/
Saw them on Apartment Therapy (my big source obviously) with a link to the Esty store, Craftsquatch, to buy them and more.

home base

Our cat is funny. Most cats like to curl up in a warm sun ray. Not our
little guy. He likes to stretch out on the air conditioning vent. When
we play & chase him around or wrestle or whatnot, he will run over &
take a break on the vent. We call it his home base. He always returns
to it. He squints at the sun too. He moves out of the sun's rays.
Funny guy.

What happens when we move to a house where all the vents are in the
walls & celings? Well. For now he's got his fun home base.

intermission at the bowl

Obviously all of us have very important things going on so we HAD to
check our phones.

I think we're all just addicted...

game night

We went to the movies with some friends tonight (Extract) and wanted
to do something afterwards because one friend is visiting from
Vermont. So... we invited everyone to our place! We hadn't planned on
it so we hurried home & quickly tidied up & got some munchies out. We
ate, drank, talked, and played Absolute Balderdash. A very fun game! I
miss game night we used to have it all the time. We will have to do it

Thanks guys!

norton simon

Our friend Kaye is in town on vacation so today we had brunch and then
went to the Norton Simon Museum. It's our favorite museum in LA but we
haven't been in forever. It's small but good stuff (mostly). I was a
bit put off by the docents though. There were about one for every four
guests and they are the hover & glower kind so you always feel
uncomfortable & like you're doing something wrong :/ but the art is
good and the gardens are beautiful. We had a great time and will be
back often, despite the hovering :)
