Yesterday Alex picked up our kitten from the vet. Turns out... It's a he! They told us it was a she. Oh well. Still cute & fun & small (not as small as we remember). He was totally curious about everything at home. Alex kept him in the big bathroom so he could get used to everything & sat and played with him. When he had to go to his writing group Mel came over to play with kitty. Then I got home after work. Phew! What a lot of new people! :) I brought him upstairs wher he had to explore everything. Finally we played with the "mouse on a string on a stick" for a long while. Then we both fell asleep until Alex got home.
He didn't like being in the bathroom alone when we went to bed at all. He mewed for a long while, which was heartbreaking, but eventually stopped. But at 6am, he was right back at it. Alex went to say good morning and we got ready for the day. I feel so bad for Alex though. He's allergic to cats and will be sneezy & sniffly etc for a couple weeks, which sucks. But, he knew it going in, so I hope it's not unbearable.
It's kinda weird having him there. It doesn't seem quite like it's real, or forever. I've never had pets (besides fish) as an adult and it's a big responsibility. I sometimes wonder if I'm too selfish to be a parent, or pet owner. I like going out whenever or traveling a lot, or sleeping in or having my home "just so". Neither of those things really allow for that. Hmmmm. But Alex gets to spend days with him cause he works at home, so that's fun :)
