Dad is off back to "jolly 'ole" again. I'm really glad he was here. Miss him already.

SB is everywhere

Today I'm taking Mel's car to get serviced. She's tried to do it on the weekends but it's just been so busy, so we thought I could do it during the week. I went to her office to get the car & headed west. I took surface streets and as I got closer & closer and more & more into Van Nuys it got to be less & less savory part of town. I wondered where I would hang out for 90 minutes whilst the car was worked on. The previous idea of just going to a fast food place became not so intising. But when I got there the was a Denny's and a dealership restaurant right next door. But, turns out, right across the way was their Jaguar dealership with a Starbucks in it (!), so I knew I was home. I pulled out my computer & logged on to their free wi-fi & I was off. Yea! But now I'll get all into it & then have to leave. Aak.

what SW geeks do after hours

When the convention closes and the vendors and panalists go home what is a true geek to do? Well, I'll tell you. Stand around in a circle and light saber duel each other. Really, it's quite amusing.

SW celebration -day 1

We're at the LA convention center for the Star Wars celebration IV for the 30th aniversary. Mostly today we're seeing a screening of "5-25-77" which is a film that Dad is involved with. We'll be back tomorrow to see more of the whole convention.

happy 30th!

movies seen this past week

onceONCE: Go out and see this film right now! This is one of the sweetest films in many years. So well done by everyone. Unique in every way. And really kind of indescribable. DOn't believe the adds, it's not a romance, it's better. It is pitch perfect. Note of warning, you will have to head STRAIGHT for the record store to get the sound track right when it finishes. My only question.. when can I see it again?

hot fuzzHOT FUZZ: We saw this right after 28 weeks later. Another film set in England and it was HYSTERICAL! You have to see it. Really great comedy without the stupid slapstick & fart jokes I just can't stand. I think I laughed harder than anyone else in the cinema because of some of the very English stuff, but it got huge laughs throughout.

28 weeks later28 WEEKS LATER: I really loved the first one of these movies (28 days later) bu this one just wasn't quite as good. It wasn't bad by any means. I guess I just wanted it to be better. I love Robert Carlyle. And I'm glad it didn't get all stupid & "Hollywood" as small films tend to do when they do well & get a sequel. I'd recommend it, but if you haven't seen either, rent the first one instead.

redsREDS: This was a "fine" movie. So beautifully shot. I think it needed to be seen in 1981 when it cam out to fully appreciate it. I can't get past Warren B & Diane K as they don't seem authentic to the era. Everyone else is great. Jack N fits right in & is fabulous. Interesting people. But mostly, beautiful.

bath time

Today the adventuremobile got a much needed bath. We were up near Mel's so we went to the self washing place. Man, it sure takes a lot of quarters to clean & vaccumed. But it's sparkling now. Yea!

toilet tidiness

It always baffles me the state in which people leave public restrooms. We went to the movies tonight and over half the stalls were littered with paper & pee on the seat. This is something I've never understood with women. Men more so. It's still gross, but then, sometimes so are men. But women? Now, I've done my fair share of "trying not to touch anything" but I still don't see how to pee on the seat. Really. And if I ever did, I would think I have the decency to clean it up so someone else doesn't have to deal with it. A future "customer" or a cleaning person.

Of course this it a lot of what is wrong with the world in general these days. The "someone will cleam my crap up so I won't worry about what I do" attitude. Wether it's toilets, litter in the streets or thefuture of the planet, it's all the same. Not taking responsibility for one's self & one's actions. I think it's time people started doing this. The toilet would be a good place to begin

now that's wicked!

I think we will be going to New York City in June, after my 20 year high school reunion (!!!) in Connecticut. Any excuse to go to NYC =) As long as we're there I though we should see a show or two. I looked up the prices for "Wicked" (it's playing here but Broadway is so much more fun & authentic than LA) and the only available tickets are $250!!!! Yikes! And that doesn't include the "convenience fee". Convenient for whom? Anyhoo. I can sooo find better things to do with $500 than to see a show. Sorry folks.

Now, let's see if there's any Shakespeare playing...

I'm a Lamborghini Murcielago!

You're not subtle, but you don't want to be. Fast, loud, and dramatic, you want people to notice you, and then get out of the way. In a world full of sheep, you're a raging bull.

Take the Which Sports Car Are You? quiz.

day at the beach

Today we headed west to dip our toes in the Pacific ocean. After a late start from home, where Mel came to join us, we started out. But we had to make a couple stops. First to get some essential oils for me, then we passed a comic store and remembered it is "free comic day"! So we stopped and saw some stormtroopers and got some free comics. Then we had to get some Coffee Bean and THEN we went out to the 101. Finally on our way. We went over the mountains and up the coast and to our favorite beach!!!

office space 2

Do you think this will help? The noise of the businesses has been driving me crazy but yesterday the smoking began. That's just absolutely unacceptable to me.

new mecca

I've found a new place to shop. The Whole Foods in Glendale. one of 2! I was doing some banking in Glendale & we needed some bananas & lemons so I looked up on my handy dandy phone if there was a WF near by. There was. And..... It's huge and clean and lovely. The one nearer to us is small, crammped, & severly lacking in selection. This place is awesome.

Now that I've bought way more than bananas & lemons and filled my canvas bags & car, I can't wait to come back!
