HOLLYWOOD SUCKS!!!!

I'm so disapointed. We saw "Pride and Prejudice" last night for Melissa's birthday (see other post). We saw this film in England over a month ago and it was PERFECT. One of my favorite films. I won't re-review it now but I have to say this... "Hollywood" & americans suck. In England the film ended no on the leads but the father in a perfect, complete scene. Last night it came to the end and again it was perfect & complete.. but wait... an exterior shot of the house? I don't remember that. Then a scene with the leads!!! Being all gushy & lame. And kissing. Ugh! Why can't people respect the art of a good story & end when it's supposed to.

I can just hear the meetings where the executives tell the director he has to tack on a crappy, kissy ending or the US audiences will hate it.Aaaaaahhhhhh. Loosers, all of them. And, as it's the director's first feature, he doesn't have the clout to just say no.

Also, I have to take issue with all the real LOOSERS out there who can't get over comparing this film to the 1995 BBC 6 hour TV version with Colin Firth. Um, hello, this isn't that movie so just review it on it's own merits and stop comparing. Of course there are things you can do in 6 hours that you can't in 2. But who cares? I have never seen that version but I can't see how Mr Firth coulod be anywhere as good as Mr. McFadyen as Darcy. He is absolutely superb. I also don't get all the prase for Keira Knightly. I don't get the criticism either, but she was just good. Not great or anywhere close.

If you haven't seen any version or read the book, as I came to this film, I think that is the best way. It is outstanding! (The UK version with the real ending!)
